I have known Sherry Pierce for over 17 years. I had the pleasure of working closely with her while serving as a member of the Board of Directors of America’s Junior Miss (AJM). Sherry played an integral role in her seven years at AJM. She served as a true leader, not only for the staff, but also for the Board members and national volunteers. As common with leaders of non-profit organizations, Sherry wore many hats. She served in official roles as the Public Relations Director, Marketing Director and Development Director for AJM simultaneously She led the agency in national fundraising activities, raising more than $800,000 annually for national television sponsorships. She also served as the AJM media contact for the national television networks, and led the organization in securing multiple contract renewals during her tenure. Throughout the years the AJM program was nationally televised, Sherry handled a multitude of on-air “executive producer” duties including wardrobe decisions, budget management, script editing, and show marketing. She was also involved in the management of the AJM website content. Sherry was very well respected by the staff, volunteers and Board. Her communication skills with individuals at all levels were outstanding. Finally, Sherry was a successful and integral part of the AJM team, and was certainly instrumental in the overall success of the AJM program.
